Blogging Hiatus.

I've been a horrendous blogger. I just haven't really been in the mood to write lately. Or read blogs. Or comments. I was starting to think that I was over it -- the whole blogging thing. While I enjoy reading other blogs, and seeing how all different people spend their daily lives it's a huge time commitment and when I feel like I have nothing to contribute I become discouraged.

It's been about two weeks since my last post and I didn't really think about the time that had passed until now. When I started this blog it was mainly to chronicle my wedding experience and everything leading up to the biggest day of my life. For the most part, I always had something to write about and when I didn't it was easy to look online and find a few pictures to post and talk about wedding inspiration. But now it's a little more difficult.

I chose to continue blogging after the wedding because I liked the idea of keeping a journal about our lives. The computer is much easier than pen & paper and the internet makes it a lasting thing (unless it crashes?) But I constantly find it hard to keep up with the blogging world. It's obviously a horrible thing to consistently compare yourself/your relationship/your life to others. No one should do that. But I feel like when I read other people's blogs -- that's what I'm doing. And unfortunately, I often feel that I can't compete with the things I read about on these blogs -- the houses, the travels, the babies, the parties, the careers, the clothes, etc. And when I find myself comparing myself/my relationship/my life to strangers -- well, that's not a healthy thing. So I check out -- stop posting -- and stop reading. For example, when I logged in today I had over 1000 unread posts. That's just too many potential comparisons for me and I'm not ready to go there.

So where am I going with this? Well, I don't really know.

I'm going to try to get back into the swing of things. I'm feeling better now. And have lots of ideas to write about. Hopefully they find their way into a post.

That's all for now.

  1. It is so easy to see others lives on the Internet and compare. So easy. There is always someone who is going to have it better than you, etc. the only thing I try to remember is that I have to be content with the life I have. It's the only one I'm going to have. Hope you start to blog again :)

  2. I started blogging for the same reason as you, and often have similar thoughts about it. Should I continue or not? I go back and forth. Glad you're back, though. :)

  4. I'm the exact same, except I haven't posted since January! I still read blogs a couple of times a week, and would love to post, but a) I feel like I have nothing to write about. and B) I'm so tired from writing for college assignments that I really don't feel like writing on my blog. I don't even feel like writing comments on other peoples blogs! But I'm writing this just so you know you're not the only one who feels this way :)

  5. word. I know how you feel.

I've taken more to blogging for me..rather than trying to read other blogs religiously and keep up with them. It doesn't care how many people visit my site or comment or how many "hits" i get..it's about journaling things for me when and how I want to.
