Day 6: What do YOU "do"?

Today's challenge: If you couldn't answer with your job, how would you answer the question, "what do you do"?

When I saw the challenge for today, I immediately thought of the quote below:

With that in mind, I asked myself "what do I do?"

A quick subtraction of time in my head tells me that I use up 7.5 hours each day sleeping, 8 hours at my teaching job, and 2 hours on the road. Meaning I have about 6.5 hours each day to do with what I please.

I think it's safe to say that I'm a homebody. I love being home. I love everything about our home. Every day, I can't wait to come home and be in this space; with Sean and the kittens.

So what do I do? I do everything I can to make my favorite place in the world pretty, and clean, and organized, and fun, and exciting, and happy, and positive, and loving. So I clean, and do laundry, and do arts & crafts, and sometimes I bake, and sometimes I dust, and occasionally I move furniture and frame a picture. And I organize the spoons, and change up the books, and refold the blankets, and switch out the winter clothes for summer clothes, and scrub the shower. And it all sounds monotonous and much like a housewife, but to me they're the best things I can do. And they're my favorite things that I can do.

And while, in those 6.5 free hours that I have, I should be doing things for work, and for all these future plans I have, and for figuring out my Masters degree courses, and calling insurance companies, and arguing with the dentist over my last bill -- instead I sweep, and play with kittens, and watch TV with Sean, and laugh over YouTube videos and read crazy news stories, and fill our house with jokes and music and dance parties in the kitchen.

That's everything I do when I procrastinate. And I do believe that what you do when you procrastinate is what you should be doing for the rest of your life.

That's exactly what I want to be doing, so that's what I do.
