// maternity jacket //
I’m officially on maternity leave! The pregnancy app on my phone told me that I’m 9 months pregnant (like I don’t already feel it — especially when we do or go anywhere!). Since Lola is nearly full-term I thought it’d be a good time to share all the current products that are getting me through my days during this 3rd trimester. Now that I’m home, most of these are getting a lot of use! Oh, and if you live somewhere cold — invest in a maternity jacket. It’s the best.
My 3rd trimester must-haves:
Chapstick – This is my favorite and I use it a hundred times of day because winter and pregnancy are doing a number on my lips.
Water bottle – Water intake is so important to keep those pesky “fake” (YET TOTALLY PAINFUL) contractions at bay. It’s a lot easier for me to drink the water I need, when I have a straw. Anyone else?
Bath sheet – Don’t even try to wrap a teeny-tiny towel around your growing belly. It doesn’t work, it makes you feel huge and it just leaves you feeling wet AND cold. Invest in bath sheets and wrap them around you after the shower. It makes all the difference in the world.
Clog slippers – Guys, I can’t reach my feet. I repeat, I can’t reach my feet. My cute little bootie slippers are impossible to get on — enter: clog slippers. Slip them right on your feet and you’re good to go. No more bending down = 2 thumbs up!
Compression socks – During my first pregnancy (my 3rd trimester was during the summer) I swelled up quickly. This time around I was fortunate to not have much swelling — until this past week, of course. Compression socks really do help… and obviously, keeping your feet up is a plus, too.
Prenatal vitamins – I’m still going strong with my vitamins. I actually like the taste of them. If I’m being totally honest… I started taking these when I was trying to get pregnant with my first and then took them all throughout my first pregnancy… all the way until now.
Cocoa butter – My stomach stretching is finally at its limit (hm, sadly that’s probably not true). Between winter, pregnancy, skin stretching PLUS low iron (which apparently makes you itchy) — I need all the moisturizer I can get.
Maternity leggings – I feel like Regina George when I say that “maternity leggings are all that fits me right now”. But even if all things fit… these are just so comfortable.
Laundry baskets – These have become my handy helpers. Between getting the nursery ready, and preparing the house for the arrival of a baby PLUS it’s Christmas time and we still have lots to decorate — there’s so much to do, and to move, and to carry. Enter… laundry baskets. They’re great for moving lots of things at a time and so helpful for sorting. Plus, I can carry these with one hand which leaves my other hand free for pulling myself up the stairs.
Laundry detergent – Did I tell you about all her new clothes? It’s a bit overwhelming but I’m so thankful to have them. I already got a head start in washing, sorting, folding and putting them away so I’m glad I had Dreft on hand. It smells so good.
Some light reading – A friend at work gave me this book the other day and on Saturday night I sat down and read it within 40 minutes. I highly recommend it — and not only if you’re having a girl. I feel like I got a lot out of it and will use the knowledge while parenting my son, too.
