A letter to my daughter: Lola, at 5 weeks old. Dear Lola, Oh, Lola. To say that I'm excited to be your mom would be an understatement. When I was younger and I'd think about one day being a mom, I always saw myself with a little girl. Always. I imagined my little girl dressed in pink, twirling in princess dresses, and tiaras and sequins and sparkles. And I envisioned a life filled with gymnastics, and ballet and dance. I expected barbies and American Girl dolls and I saw us playing house and dress up and school. I wished for outings for manicures and shopping for clothes, and prom dresses and wedding dresses together. But then I found out I was pregnant with you -- a girl -- in 2017, and realized my vision of having a daughter … [Read more...] about Dear Lola: Letter one.
I know I sound like a broken record, but I can't believe we've had little Lola with us for one month. It's just crazy to me how quickly time passes. I wanted to stop for a few moments and write all about her and how much she brings to our family. Basically it's been a month filled with love, a bit less sleep, double the crying & diaper changes and so many couch snuggles. :) I'm going to do her weight and height in a few days after her month check-up. But as for other things, here goes: Lola Rey -- Or Lala, as Javi has nicknamed her is a month old. She's outgrown her newborn clothes already (she didn't even get a chance to wear everything!) and she now wears 0-3. She prefers sleepers to separates and hates cute baby jeggings especially … [Read more...] about One month with Lola Rey.
We've had our little Lola in our arms for a week now and she's making an impact on everyone (including the cats) in our house. We're figuring out our new normal, a new routine and her rhythm, her cries and her happy times. We're doing well as a family of four. I wanted to share some moments from our first week together. Big brother, Javi, is in love with Lola. He wakes up every morning and requests to see "Lala". Before he leaves for school, he stops by her swing to give her a kiss, always is vigilant in replacing her pacifier (sometimes a bit too rough for mama's liking...), and he LOVES holding and feeding her. When he no longer wants to hold her, he tells us "I done". Lola's been good to us in terms of sleep - she … [Read more...] about One week with Lola.
I gave birth last week. Did I tell you?! This is our last photo as a family of three! We took it right before Sean and I left for the hospital. Birth stories are such tempting reads! At least they are for me. Since I wrote about Javi's birth day, I want to make sure I do the same for Lola. So, here goes -- Lola's Birth Story: A few weeks ago, doctors decided that I should be induced at 39 weeks. Unfortunately, that fell on Christmas Eve and I didn't want that so I chose the 26th for her birth. Originally, the doctor had mentioned beginning Cervidil at 7PM on Tuesday night and assured me that I would be ready to deliver when she arrived to the hospital at 8:30AM the next day. Well, that's, of course, not how it … [Read more...] about Lola’s Birth Day.
Her room is ready! Did you hear that?! The nursery (that I've been pining over) is ready BEFORE her arrival. I'm so excited for this nursery reveal. Similar to Javi's room -- I wanted her nursery simple and non-cluttered. Plus I wanted the space to be bright and instill a feeling of happiness. I wanted yellows, teals and pinks which I think I accomplished. As with any big reveal -- I think it's important to acknowledge what this room looked like when we bought the house. (ha!) and to admit that it stayed THIS way for the nearly four years that we've lived here. It's shameful. I don't know what the previous homeowners were thinking! The Nursery -- Before and After: Do you see?! Do you see what we were living with? The walls had … [Read more...] about Nursery Reveal + Before & After pictures!
I know it's not typical to have a baby shower for a second baby. My first baby shower was incredible. But the second time around... you know, etiquette comes into play! I wasn't totally confident that a baby shower would happen! Lots of people are lucky to be given a "sprinkle". My mom and aunt decided to throw me (and this baby girl) a "flurry" because it's winter, after all! It was so beautiful and we feel so fortunate to have such generous family and friends. Before I dive into photos of the flurry, I want to reveal this baby's name! (Finally!)... NAME REVEAL: I'm so excited for baby Lola to join our family and I'm in love with her name, too! "Lola" quickly made the short list of baby names (the general rule was that her name … [Read more...] about Baby Shower + baby’s name reveal!
