It's been a whirlwind of a month! I'm not sure how the entire month of January is behind us (minus 1 day) but we made it. By that I mean -- we successfully parented two kids for an entire month. Go us! (ha) I hope to do a little month in review each month with a focus on photos since that's what I love the most. So here's a super photo-heavy post! January in Review: I'm still on maternity leave until the end of March so most days it seems like I don't do much. But even though I don't leave the house -- I'm doing a lot! Between taking care of Lola, baby snuggles, getting Javi off to school, feedings, diaper changes, trying to shower, pumping 8 times a day, monitoring Javi's toilet training escapades (AH!), feeding myself, house stuff, … [Read more...] about January in review.
I know I sound like a broken record, but I can't believe we've had little Lola with us for one month. It's just crazy to me how quickly time passes. I wanted to stop for a few moments and write all about her and how much she brings to our family. Basically it's been a month filled with love, a bit less sleep, double the crying & diaper changes and so many couch snuggles. :) I'm going to do her weight and height in a few days after her month check-up. But as for other things, here goes: Lola Rey -- Or Lala, as Javi has nicknamed her is a month old. She's outgrown her newborn clothes already (she didn't even get a chance to wear everything!) and she now wears 0-3. She prefers sleepers to separates and hates cute baby jeggings especially … [Read more...] about One month with Lola Rey.
Having a toddler is hard. Adding a newborn to the mix can make things even trickier! Here's a post about smoothly introducing your toddler to their new baby sibling. I was nervous about how our family dynamics would change when we brought home baby #2. How would we introduce him to his new family member? How would my lovable boy react to his new sibling? Would he feel left out or jealous of his new baby sibling? Ah! The unknown. I scoured the internet in the weeks before delivery looking for tips and all the how-to's. My goal was to make sure Javi continued to feel loved and not overlooked. I knew that much of the attention would be on Lola especially in the first few days of her life. For a former only child, that's hard! So: here … [Read more...] about 9 tips for introducing siblings.
Happy Tuesday! We've had pretty slow weekends (and weekdays, for that matter) around our house. But I wanted to share some quick scenes: Our weekend: On Saturday morning, our friends came over and took some photos of Lola and Javi in her room. I can't wait to get them back but I snuck in some iPhone photos when I could. Lola was NOT a fan of her photo shoot and it was hard to wrangle and convince Javi to go through with it, too. Thankfully, everyone took a long nap in the afternoon -- because the tears from the morning were exhausting. Saturday night (really, evening), we had our own little photo shoot in our Pats gear! Javi and Lola didn't stay up for the game :) but Sean and I watched (until 11 or … [Read more...] about Scenes from our weekend.
In the past, I've shared a bit about the feelings and emotions I had after my first labor and delivery experience but I haven't outwardly shared about my struggles with postpartum depression. During my pregnancy with Javi, I did a lot of research about how to care for a newborn. We went to the classes the hospital gives, we read books, and blogs and talked to lots of people about how they successfully parent. We had a doctor lined up, his room was beautifully arranged and we had everything he could want or need. So I was surprised, when after delivery, I wasn't over-the-moon happy. I didn't feel ready. I didn't expect to feel so badly after delivery. And I didn't realize how long it would take me to physically feel like myself again. … [Read more...] about Postpartum Depression & what I’ve changed from baby #1 to baby #2.
We're two weeks in to the new year and while most of my days are filled with taking photos like the one above -- I acknowledge that I'm late to welcoming the new year! Today I want to talk about some 2018 plans and goals. In 2017 my one and only goal was to "blog in real-time" and I did it! I don't know how many times I blogged but it was a lot. That's success! But, in 2018 I'm going to be a bit more ambitious (ha!) and I've set my mind on a number of life improvements I want to make. I'm going for attainable and measurable goals and not broad aspirations. Goals for 2018: Have family photos taken - I'm really looking forward to this and it's already planned. I figure why not start with something that has a high chance of … [Read more...] about Goals for 2018.
