Yes, the year has only just begun, and you've probably not given your summer vacation a massive amount of thought (unless you are super organized and booked last summer, in which case, well done!). But, it's never too early to start thinking about how you are going to pay for it. Summer vacations are costly, especially if you are tied to peak weeks like school holidays. However, there are plenty of ways that you can save money if you want a break to get you through the year. Let's take a look at them. source Use Rewards Remember, you don't have to pay with money. There are other ways. Save with the … [Read more...] about Saving Money on Your Summer Break*
It's been a whirlwind of a month! I'm not sure how the entire month of January is behind us (minus 1 day) but we made it. By that I mean -- we successfully parented two kids for an entire month. Go us! (ha) I hope to do a little month in review each month with a focus on photos since that's what I love the most. So here's a super photo-heavy post! January in Review: I'm still on maternity leave until the end of March so most days it seems like I don't do much. But even though I don't leave the house -- I'm doing a lot! Between taking care of Lola, baby snuggles, getting Javi off to school, feedings, diaper changes, trying to shower, pumping 8 times a day, monitoring Javi's toilet training escapades (AH!), feeding myself, house stuff, … [Read more...] about January in review.
I know I sound like a broken record, but I can't believe we've had little Lola with us for one month. It's just crazy to me how quickly time passes. I wanted to stop for a few moments and write all about her and how much she brings to our family. Basically it's been a month filled with love, a bit less sleep, double the crying & diaper changes and so many couch snuggles. :) I'm going to do her weight and height in a few days after her month check-up. But as for other things, here goes: Lola Rey -- Or Lala, as Javi has nicknamed her is a month old. She's outgrown her newborn clothes already (she didn't even get a chance to wear everything!) and she now wears 0-3. She prefers sleepers to separates and hates cute baby jeggings especially … [Read more...] about One month with Lola Rey.

A few weeks ago we were looking at Javi and said to each other, wow he needs a haircut. Unfortunately, we had to keep putting it off because of the having a newborn at home thing. But FINALLY last Saturday we got him into the barber shop. We're really lucky because Javi loves getting his hair cut! The first time we went he sat in Sean's lap but since then, he's had 3 more cuts, and each time was even more successful and exciting than the last! He loves going there, sitting in the chair, and even more, loves telling people after the fact that he got a haircut (and then he looks down and points to the top of his head as if the person he's talking to can't see that his hair is short). Lola joined us on the outing (her first one other … [Read more...] about Toddler: Haircut!
Having a toddler is hard. Adding a newborn to the mix can make things even trickier! Here's a post about smoothly introducing your toddler to their new baby sibling. I was nervous about how our family dynamics would change when we brought home baby #2. How would we introduce him to his new family member? How would my lovable boy react to his new sibling? Would he feel left out or jealous of his new baby sibling? Ah! The unknown. I scoured the internet in the weeks before delivery looking for tips and all the how-to's. My goal was to make sure Javi continued to feel loved and not overlooked. I knew that much of the attention would be on Lola especially in the first few days of her life. For a former only child, that's hard! So: here … [Read more...] about 9 tips for introducing siblings.
